چکیده

Quantum Monte Carlo calculationsof ground and low-lying excited states for nuclei with A 8 are made using a realistic Hamiltonian that ts NN scattering data. Results for more than 40 diierent (J ; T) states, plus isobaric analogs, are obtained and the known excitation spectra are reproduced reasonably well. Various density and momentum distributions and electromagnetic form factors and moments have also been computed. These are the rst microscopic calculations that directly produce nuclear shell structure from realistic NN interactions.

Quantum Monte Carlo Calculations of Light Nuclei

The goal of ab-initio light-nuclei calculations is to understand nuclei as collections of nucleons interacting with realistic (bare) potentials through reliable solutions of the many-nucleon Schrödinger equation. Such calculations can study binding energies, excitation spectra, relative stability, densities, transition amplitudes, cluster-cluster overlaps, low-energy astrophysical reactions, an...

Few-body reference data for multicomponent formalisms: Light-nuclei molecules

We present full quantum statistical energetics of some electron–light-nuclei systems. This is accomplished with the path-integral Monte Carlo method. The effects on energetics arising from the change in the nuclear mass are studied. The obtained results may serve as reference data for the multicomponent density functional theory calculations of light-nuclei systems. In addition, the results rep...

Quantum Monte Carlo Calculations of Pion Inelastic Scattering

We show that the neutron and proton transition densities predicted by recent quantum Monte Carlo calculations for light nuclei are consistent with pion inelastic scattering. This provides a microscopic understanding of the enhancement factors for quadrople excitations, which were needed to describe pion inelastic scattering within the nuclear shell model of Cohen and Kurath. PACS numbers: 21.60...

We report quantum Monte Carlo calculations of ground and low-lying excited states for nuclei with A ≤ 7 using a realistic Hamiltonian containing the Argonne v18 two-nucleon and Urbana IX three-nucleon potentials. A detailed description of the Green’s function Monte Carlo algorithm for systems with state-dependent potentials is given and a number of tests of its convergence and accuracy are perf...

Toward ab initio calculations of astrophysical reaction rates

There has been tremendous progress in recent years in the description of nuclei as collections of interacting nucleons: the low-lying energy spectra of many light nuclei have been successfully computed from the vacuum nucleon-nucleon interaction and an additional three-nucleon interaction. These ab initio calculations have mostly focused on static properties of nuclei, particularly the energies...
